Chef Todd Makes Beef Bourguignon Recipe!

After having seen Julia and Julie, the movie about how 20-something home cook Julie Powell makes Julia Child's Beef Bourguignon perfectly every time, Chef Todd Mohr decided to create the dish by following the recipe exactly. It's been a long time since Chef Todd has cooked from a recipe, but he'll make an attempt to recreate what Hollywood says can be accomplished on the first try, even without any cooking experience! Will Chef Todd be able to make Beef Bourguignon from the Julia and Julie movie?

I've tried to make Julia Child's Boef Bourguinon twice, and I've never been happy with it. TOO salty for me. I love your video lessons because they are teaching me how to use a recipe as a base, and not use it as a "Gospel".

    Hi Diana!
I'm not saying that cooking has to be difficult to be good, but recipes certainly can make it seem that way. When you are empowered with the basic METHODS behind cooking, then you can apply your artistic interpretation and cooking becomes rewarding, fun and successful.

Thanks for taking the time to comment.

Looking at some of the recipes I have, I now understand why I have never followed any of them exactly. It reminds me of a lesson about "how to make a peanut butter sandwich" based on someone else's written instructions.
    Thanks for the laugh!

    Hi Chef Todd:

This your funniest video I've seen. I laughed out loud at three comments.
    1. 2 tablespoons of carrots.
    2. Sticking the ruler in the pan to measure 1/16 " of oil.
    3. Adding 4 small pieces of carrots to the dish.
    Stop it, you're killin' me!
