A fine restaurant has a creative and progressive chef who is experimenting with flavors and textures. I want to copy what he\u2019s doing to create very special meals in my own kitchen.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Let\u2019s say it\u2019s a special occasion,<\/strong> I go to an upscale restaurant, pay $200, and have one of the best meals I\u2019ve ever eaten. I know that if I could recreate the meal, it would cost me less than $20 for the ingredients.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Those types of restaurants are at a much higher skill level,<\/strong> they have very tricky ways of fooling your palate, of creating amazing combinations of flavors that you wouldn\u2019t think of and couldn\u2019t be identified by the most sensitive of taste buds.<\/p>\n<p><strong>That\u2019s why I was so excited when Ron Douglas,<\/strong> author of America\u2019s Secret Recipes told me about his new book. \u201c5 star restaurant secrets\u201d. He\u2019s taken it to the next level by revealing the recipes of some of the world\u2019s best restaurants.<\/p>\n<p><strong>You\u2019ve heard me bash recipes before,<\/strong> and say you don\u2019t need them for everyday cooking. I own this book, and I don\u2019t consider them recipes. I consider them treasures and insights into where food is headed.
