{"id":12804,"date":"2012-02-22T16:18:57","date_gmt":"2012-02-22T21:18:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/webcookingclasses.com\/?p=12804"},"modified":"2017-01-19T03:48:41","modified_gmt":"2017-01-19T03:48:41","slug":"mahi-mahi-recipes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/webcookingclasses.com\/mahi-mahi-recipes\/","title":{"rendered":"Mahi Mahi Recipes You Can Do in 15 Minutes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Mahi mahi recipes are no different than any other recipe.<\/strong>\u00a0 I\u2019m sure you know by now how I feel about recipes.\u00a0 They have inherent flaws that make them very difficult to duplicate consistently.\u00a0 If you\u2019re going to get varied results from the same recipe, why even follow it in the first place?<\/p>\n<div align=\"center\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/i3XcpivILI8\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p><strong>Cooking is a chore when you have to follow someone else\u2019s written instructions.<\/strong>\u00a0 However, cooking becomes inspirational and therapeutic in many ways when you follow your own creativity and desires.<\/p>\n<p><strong>I hear it all the time, people tell me about a great cook they know<\/strong> that can \u201cjust throw things together\u201d.\u00a0 This metaphorical throwing of food means these people understand the methods behind all recipes and cook with their own rules, using the ingredients they want to.<\/p>\n<p><strong>So, here I am in a rental condo kitchen in Kauai,<\/strong> Hawaii and I\u2019ve just returned from the <a href=\"http:\/\/hanaleidolphin.com\/hanalei-fish-market.htm \" target=\"_blank\">Dolphin Fish Market in Hanalei<\/a> with a piece of fish that was swimming just hours ago.\u00a0 Without any mahi mahi recipes in sight, I\u2019ll improvise an outstanding dinner with the very few ingredients I could pick up at the local grocer.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The key to cooking the fish correctly is choosing the best cooking method.<\/strong>\u00a0 Last time I was here, I was also <a href=\"https:\/\/webcookingclasses.com\/cooking-fish-a-rum-recipe-from-hawaii\/how-to-cook\/3242\/ \" target=\"_blank\">cooking fish with rum<\/a>, but it was Monchung, a much tougher and meatier fish.\u00a0 Since Mahi Mahi is a delicate fish, I want to cook it quickly under high heat.\u00a0 Saute\u2019 method is the perfect choice since I have much more control over the heat than baking or poaching the fish.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Along with some packaged Udon Noodles, sliced Portobello Mushrooms,<\/strong> and a bit of rum for deglazing, all I need is the flavor of the fresh mahi mahi.\u00a0 Since I don\u2019t make a habit of bringing cookbooks on vacation with me, I\u2019m not bound to over-complicate this dish with a multitude of recipe commanded ingredients.\u00a0 I\u2019ll keep it quick and simple.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Once I remove the skin and cut the fish into smaller pieces so it will cook more quickly,<\/strong> it\u2019s a matter of placing the mahi mahi in heated butter and watch the item turn from fleshy to cooked-white.\u00a0 This is called coagulation of proteins and a great indicator of when to turn the item over, and when it\u2019s finished.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What\u2019s left in the pan is called \u201cfond\u201d,<\/strong> the rendered fats and material from the fish.\u00a0 It\u2019s an excellent place to start building levels of flavor, and the Portobello mushrooms will add even more texture to the dish.\u00a0 Once they\u2019re sauteed, the Udon Noodles and the mushroom flavor packet they came with are quickly stir-fried and we\u2019re done!<\/p>\n<p><strong>You can spend your vacation searching for mahi mahi recipes,<\/strong> or you can just go buy a fresh piece of fish and improvise your way to an outstanding Hawaiian meal.\u00a0 Keep in mind that HOW you cook something is so much more important than WHAT you cook, or what the recipe tells you to do.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBurn Your Recipes\u201d and Cook Like a Chef at Home with my <a href=\"https:\/\/webcookingclasses.com\/cooking-dvd\">cooking DVDs<\/a>!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/webcookingclasses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/DVD-3D-set.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-full\" title=\"3DVDe-set\" src=\"https:\/\/webcookingclasses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/DVD-3D-set.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"175\" height=\"200\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nThe Complete <a href=\"https:\/\/webcookingclasses.com\/cooking-dvd\">cooking DVD<\/a>collection for cooking without recipes.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Mahi mahi recipes are no different than any other recipe.\u00a0 I\u2019m sure you know by now how I feel about recipes.\u00a0 They have inherent flaws that make them very difficult to duplicate consistently.\u00a0 If you\u2019re going to get varied results from the same recipe, why even follow it in the first place?
